IN PROGRESS ...In the actual context of climate emergency in which we live nowdays, Lost Forest pavilion brings closer the reality of forest fires and raises awareness about the importance of coexistence, care and sustainable management of our forest. The project made this statement in a very direct and frontal way, transferring a large volume of burned logged trees, coming from a nearby fire, to an urban context in the city of San Sebastián (Basque Country).

	The construction process was equally relevant. For a week, people from San Sebastián witnessed a brutal performance in which 20 long forestry trucks of 13m long arrived transporting a large volume of trees that was unloaded with a forestry clamp and raised on a steel containment structure whose objective was only to frame this process. Ash, cortex and branches came off the wood, contaminating and dirtying the site so often transited daily. People could smell and touch the burned wood. The small forest fragment was also a refuge for other “walkers” of different species such as birds, butterflies and other insects.&#38;nbsp;

The volume was built with groups of stacked logs 4m long. The species used was “pino laricio” (black pine), from one of the eight fires that, in June from 2022, devastated almost 15,000 hectares in Puente la Reina, Navarra. Maderas Larreta, a local company in charge of exploiting this area, collaborated in the project by lending the almost 1,000 stereos (about 500 tons) of logged wood that shaped the sculpture. The logs, due to their loan condition, could not be manipulated and had to be returned exactly the same. All wood came directly from the forest without going through any prior processing. Once the pavilion was dismantled, the trees continued its path (burned wood still has many industrial uses) and the forest continued its regeneration.

Lucerna is a Latin word describing an exterior opening located at the top of a space providing natural light and ventilation to it. However, in its origins, Lucerna was a term used by the Romans to name the small vessels with oil that produced light in the dark, in other words, the first lamps in history. Our project explores the intersection between both etymological notions to produce a temporary installation in the main Patio of the Purissima Concepció monastery of Tortosa, Spain.&#38;nbsp;

From Reims Cathedral to Hagia Sophia Mosque, Chandelier lamps have played a leading role in the spatial experience of Sacred spaces. Our project aims to rethink the spatial impact of this traditional element trough a monumental vessel of light that transforms the Patio trough shine and color.

	 This color overflows the boundaries of the monastery until it reaches the street, where thousands of Tortosa inhabitants are invited to discover and reactivate the forgotten and hidden spaces of the city.

With/Without is a game-based Community-Led Housing (CLH) platform which automates the mass negotiation of participatory design intent. The design input of thousands of users gets automatically processed into a functioning building. The design game kit augments the negotiation between designers and future homeowners by using a computer vision application that uploads every user’s physical typological input in a digital master model. Subsequently, an AI negotiator analyses every input that is uploaded in the database and creates the building assembly through a constraint solving algorithm that reflects every inhabitant’s desires. Lastly, a cable robot automates the construction of the assembly by compiling discrete timber building blocks into the desired living spaces. The result is a modular and scalable system that creates customized and unique spaces with generic parts.

	As a scale model Our cable robot uses blocks that are sourced from external&#38;nbsp; inputs, they represent the crowd source aspect of our platform that’s carried out by the game. Once generated an inventory, In Assembling these individual “chunks” into a collective model, the robot manifests the mediating hand of the negotiator App.

Context:

This portfolio is a narrative guide to my final thesis work “Nexus”, a project that explored the possible outcomes of over urbanisation in the near future. Trying to exploit its most extreme prospects concerning social, political and environmental aspects; the focus of the narrative proposed will consider the possible constraints of choosing to live outside of cities. That is living outside of the support of society.
 
In this situation a new human-machine relationship will appear with a new agent that would fill the vacancy, this new actant would be an autonomous infrastructure that would replace the current human footprint outside of mayor urban areas, the “Industrial Nexus”.

	The complete mechanization of the industrial corridors and the rural areas, will eventually cause the population to abandon completely their enrolment in those economic sectors, moving to the city to be absorbed into the I.A framework. The&#38;nbsp;resulting&#38;nbsp;environment between the main&#38;nbsp;urban conglomerates&#38;nbsp;will be without services or population.

	People who want to escape this control must adapt to the digital language of the corridors infrastructure that acts as links in between the urban areas. Living within a decoy device, the structure illustrated&#38;nbsp;functions as a physical Trojan. Providing&#38;nbsp;an electronic counter measure that allows for an infiltrated use of the corridor’s hardware, for communication, transport and survival in the environment beyond the control of the A.I.

	As Cities become environments directed by Artificial Intelligence and people will be governed by productivity programs controlled by robots. In this scenario, cities would become areas of restricted freedom and few opportunities to escape from data control.
The project uses this dystopian scenario to envision what would be of the rural and natural environment. If this demographical and technological pattern continues, would it be a possibility to inhabit a landscape scattered with technological contamination? (remains of computers, vehicles, industrial machines). What experience would result of re-conquering and exploring these new areas? 
The narrative of the drawings follow a group of people in the search of freedom to self-build their space and living out from the recycling of industrial remains. Therefore, claiming a right to choose other ways of life outside of what might be programmed.

	The crew of the proposed prototype are explorers and traders, who manufacture objects with the loot gathered of the voyages out in physical and throughout virtual environments. They interact and explore with drones that travel through air traffic routes and the rest of the online community. 
Thanks to its mechanical configuration it is possible to work on different elements in an evolutionary way. With this design premise the user can choose what are the systems he needs to generate his own domestic landscape.

	This prototype becomes a utility device for transport and habitability, generating unique applications from its capacity to integrate objects taken from industrial waste outside cities. 
In the process of incorporating these objects, they recover or find a new functionality, as they are modified to incorporate other attributes.

	The basic design of the prototype maintains functionalities that change or adapt during its transport or deployment state, containing the basic structure for the temporary construction of a refuge.

	The constructive development of the Prototype is carried out around the habitable environment of the deployed vehicle, the chassis and its adaptability to the stacking tower structure with an ad-on shell structure as an Exoskeleton. This makes this device not only capable of being used out in the go, but also to be arranged dynamically in vertical stacks that allow for more densely arranged communities.

	It is a functional ecosystem, which allows the reuse of parts to adapt mobile/repurposed housing to different conditions; territorial, climatic, economic, etc.

	Finally, the prototype core is tested by studying a physical integration with external assets. Making it "compatible" to operate in conjunction with the mechanical systems performing links and enabling services across the unpopulated landscape. This is developed, using a structural system that incorporates components of the prototype inside a structural frame that reinforces the chassis, to adapt it to a vertical structure taken from obsolete elements in the corridor links in between cities.

	The frame acts as an exoskeleton that hybridizes with the accessibility systems in the prototype and its slabs, providing new systems for anchoring reused elements, and potentially providing three habitable living environments. These levels are connected to the accessibility and evacuation systems along the main vertical structure, while incorporating installations and mounting systems for improved customization and activity specific modules.The sphere is chosen as an element resistant to deformation and actions in multiple directions, allowing the tower to grow and shrink with demand. Modules can be relocated as they are an integral part of the posts stressed vertical structure, acting as bracing components, the critical factor considered for the structural calculation was the maximum unit gap at the bottom of a theroretical 620m tall cumulation.
The vertical core is made with a tube of diameter 1000m and e 40mm of steel of maximum resistance S 450 J0 for a maximum height of 620m. The casing structure is designed with 550x350mm and 16mm arc-shaped profiles, considering that in case of a joint failure, a casing should withstand at least the one it has on top.

	As in the rest of the project most of the non-structural elements are recycled from other objects and from the auxiliary elements used in industrial process. In a territorial scale, the project works with a metabolic philosophy, using the leftovers of industrial activities as raw material for construction.

	The objective was to proceed with the same original spirit of working with objects that were something else and will go on to be changed once more, actions must take their invisible pasts and futures into account. The challenge above all is to foster users’ participation in these time frames and thereby make a valuable contribution of a green consumerism.

This is an ongoing project in which a supplementary structure is being added to an old courtyard. The aim of this work is to study how an intervention could influence the inner workings of the existing structure, being singular and delicate state because of a recent renovation that required a structural reinforcement. That said, I understand that not only the added structure has to respect the load capabilities that the pre-existing structure can allow and further assume by itself, but has to take into consideration this could change in the near future.

Because the courtyard might need further adjustments and modifications to stand by itself, figuring out what more loads can it take in its current state can be almost a bet. I believe&#38;nbsp; that an intervention looking to match the current state of the courtyard, would be missing out completely on it’s future sustainability. Thinking about this, I figured it might be more critical to consider long term objectives, providing an open framework instead of intervening for the present situation.

With an open framework “Open” I’m aiming to provide foundation to enable for further developments that might inevitably come to challenge the existence of the original structure and at the same time support the use and experience of the courtyard.

	Insòlit festival is an event held in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The main theme of the event is to rise interest and awareness about the rich cultural heritage present around the city, particularly on traditional houses from the historic urban center of Palma and their courtyards. For one week, scenic or interactive installations, invite the general public to enter and discover the inner workings of these cultural houses. For this year (2019) the guideline theme proposed, in the design competition brief was:&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;Contradiction.

The central strip, hangs off the building’s top terrace cornice, and on the opposite side from the terrace, thin ropes go through a pair window grids, and attach with claps to the wooden beams of the Flores &#38;amp; Prats renovated roof. Down below, both of side meshes are fixed with clamps to the wooden structure of the first floor, and slender ropes that are born from the cornice (in the middle) to suspend and elevate the mid section halfway through the courtyard. The mesh is covered by 20,000 recyclable plastic cups that respond to the color palette of the Festival poster,projecting a vibrant warm light inside. A tear opens a gap in the middle of the surface, this delimits a “corridor”, which physically and visually connect the entrance door with the festival’s information space, at the other end of the courtyard.
